Hi everyone,
We have finally reached the end of the year! Looking back on 2016 I have realised how quickly time flies by! To me it honestly feels like it was just yesterday that we began the year and now it is all coming to a close. What a year it has been!
This year has been on of the best yet as I have learnt many new things and have gone to many great places. Some of the highlights for me in 2016 were:
- Creating our Inquiry projects for the ‘Sleek Gleek’ competition. I found it really fun to write our script and to film a proper news report.
- Going on an excursion to the Immigration Museum as a part of our inquiry unit of ‘Migration’. I really enjoyed going as I had never been there before, so it is always great to experience new things.
- Reading my Literature Circle novel ‘Once’ by Morris Gleitzman it was a wonderful book that I really liked reading.
Along with a new year there always comes a handful of frustrating challenges, and these were some of mine this year in 2016:
- Getting use to the new ICT learning tool ‘Google Classroom’ as for me it was quite hard to manage at first.
- Learning how to write a proper and well structured historical narrative, because at first I was adding too much description and was trailing off the main plot.
- Reading one of my literature circle novels ‘Little Brother’ by Allan Baillie because I found that at some points in the book it got a bit boring because it started to add irrelevant descriptions and stories.
Along with challenges there always comes a resolution to every problem, so these were some of my successes throughout 2016:
- Discovering new persuasive techniques for my writing, as it definitely impacted of the quality of my piece.
- Learning how to measure angles correctly with a protractor as I realised that I was measuring them incorrectly by not putting the line on the accurate spot.
- Learning how to manage my blog better and how to use a new online ICT tool called ‘Google Classroom’. At first I found them both a bit difficult to maintain and use, however after a lot of practice with them both I was successful.
So they were all of my highlights, challenges and successes throughout this year in 2016. All of them have impacted on my learning in various ways, and I am extremely proud of my achievements and discoveries this year.
However, unfortuanly someone has to be the bad bearer of news and in this case it is obviously me. Due to me being in Grade 6 I will not be returning to St Margaret Mary’s Primary School, nor will I be posting, commenting or updating my blog in anyway.
Thank you to everyone for subscribing, commenting and reading my posts in general, it has been really fun to manage ‘Tess’ Blog’ and I hope that you all continue to comment on the upcoming 5 and 6’s sites next year in 2017!
Thank you everyone for your support, have a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year!
Tess
